Privacy Policy.

Last updated: 26 May 2026

Valley & Laurel (“we”, “our”, “the studio”) is committed to protecting the privacy of visitors to valleyandlaurel.com and of trade professionals who correspond with us. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how it is stored, and the rights you have under the UK GDPR, the EU GDPR, and equivalent global data protection laws.

1. Who we are

Valley & Laurel is a studio based at Chelsea Wharf, London, United Kingdom, acting as exclusive UK & Ireland representative for a curated portfolio of transatlantic furniture, textile and material houses. For any matter relating to this policy you may write to info@valleyandlaurel.com. We act as the data controller for personal data submitted through this website.

2. What we collect

We only collect personal data that you choose to provide. Specifically, when you complete the trade enquiry form or otherwise correspond with the studio, we may collect:

  • Your name and the company you represent
  • Email address and telephone number
  • Business address (street, city, postcode, country)
  • VAT or equivalent business registration number
  • Trade references and any context you choose to share about your practice
  • The content of any message you send us

We do not use analytics cookies, advertising trackers, or third-party marketing pixels on this website. The site uses only strictly functional storage required to operate.

3. Why we use it (lawful basis)

Under UK and EU GDPR we rely on the following lawful bases:

  • Pre-contractual steps (Article 6(1)(b)) — to review trade applications, verify business credentials, respond to enquiries and prepare a trading relationship at your request.
  • Legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)) — to operate the studio, maintain records of correspondence, and prevent abuse of our forms.
  • Legal obligation (Article 6(1)(c)) — where we are required to retain records for tax, accounting or regulatory purposes.

4. How long we keep it

Trade enquiry submissions are retained for as long as is necessary to evaluate and, where applicable, maintain the trade relationship, and thereafter for up to seven years to meet accounting and legal obligations. Unsuccessful or dormant enquiries are deleted within twenty-four months unless you ask us to retain them for longer.

5. Where it is stored

Submissions are stored in a secure managed database operated on our behalf by Supabase (a service provided through Lovable Cloud). Transactional emails are dispatched on our behalf by Resend. Both providers are bound by data processing agreements and apply industry-standard security controls including encryption in transit and at rest. Where data is transferred outside the UK or EEA, the transfer is protected by the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses or the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.

6. Who can see it

Access to personal data submitted through the website is restricted to authorised members of the Valley & Laurel studio. We do not sell, rent or share personal data with third parties for marketing purposes. Limited information may be shared:

  • With our hosting and email sub-processors strictly to operate the service
  • With professional advisers (accountants, legal counsel) where reasonably required
  • Where required by law, court order or to defend legal claims

7. Your rights

Wherever you are located, and in particular under the UK GDPR and EU GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request rectification of inaccurate or incomplete data
  • Request erasure of your data (“the right to be forgotten”)
  • Restrict or object to certain processing
  • Request that we transfer your data to another controller (portability)
  • Withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent

To exercise any of these rights, please write to info@valleyandlaurel.com. We aim to respond within thirty days.

If you are based in the United Kingdom you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk). If you are based in the European Union you may complain to your local supervisory authority.

8. Cookies and similar technologies

This website does not use analytics, advertising or third-party tracking cookies. Strictly functional storage may be used to remember interface preferences during your visit. Because no non-essential cookies are set, no cookie consent banner is required under the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations or the EU ePrivacy Directive. Should this change in future, we will provide a clear consent mechanism before any non-essential cookie is set.

9. Security

We apply organisational and technical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the data we hold, including encrypted transport (HTTPS), strict access controls, role-based database policies, and limited retention. No system is perfectly secure; if you believe your data has been compromised, please contact the studio immediately.

10. Children

The Valley & Laurel website is intended for trade professionals and adult correspondents. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under sixteen years of age.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page indicates when it was last revised. Material changes will be highlighted on the website in advance of taking effect.
